Caught in the net of the German Socialist Intelligenzaktion (extermination of Polish Catholic intellectual elites) Father Franciszek Błędzki was transported at night with 29 other priests, all beaten with rifle butts, to the Szpęgawski forest, where they were told to remove their shoes. The first four were ordered by the Gestapo to lie in a death pit before executed, each with a bullet to the back of the head. The next four, ordered to lie on their dead confreres before they were executed, on October 16, 1939.
