During the Warsaw Uprising, Father Jan Salamucha refused to abandon his wounded patients, while others fled through the sewers. While hoisting the white flag of surrender, he was gunned down, August 11, 1944, by Russian People's Liberation Army - collaborators of the Soviet Socialists.
