In the autumn of 1944, when Soviet Socialists forbade the sacraments of baptism and marriage, Father Jan Wasilewski began to give them secretly. Interrogated many times by the secret police of the NKVD, who unsuccessfully tried to coerce him to cooperate with the Soviets, he was finally arrested. Interrogated and tortured for 2 years, he was sentenced to 10 years in a Siberian gulag and perished March 9, 1948.
