Because he was a priest, Father Witold Marian Klimkiewicz was arrested by Gestapo a few weeks after the German Socialist invasion of Poland, on September 1, 1939. For three years, he suffered torture, starvation, exposure and exhaustion after being shipped to Dachau, to Gusen and then back to Dachau, where he was transported to Hartheim Euthanasia Center and gassed to death in a gas chamber, on October 12, 1942.
