The mass murder of mostly ethnic Poles (Catholics) in western Poland: 20.000 deaths in 760 mass executions by SS Einsatzgruppen from September 1939 to January 1940.
German Socialist Einsatzgruppen (Operational Groups) were Schutzstaffel (Protection Squad) paramilitary death squads responsible for mass killings, primarily by shooting, during World War II in German-occupied Europe.
