Father Jan Franciszek Macha was arrested by German Socialist Gestapo, tortured and sentenced to death -- by guillotine -- along with Seminarian Joachim Antoni Gürtler/Guertler.
Shortly before his execution, Father Macha wrote to his family: "I am dying with a clear conscience. I lived shortly, but I think that I have achieved my goal. Do not despair! Everything will be fine! Without one tree, the forest will be ... (...) Goodbye! Stay with God! Pray for your Hanik."
15 minutes after midnight, on December 3, 1942, in Katowice prison, Father Macha was beheaded with the infamous guillotine, the infamous Katowice tegel fallbeil, nicknamed the Red Widow. His body was cremated at Auschwitz death camp.
