Father Jan "Narcyz" Turchan, of the Order of Friars Minor, was arrested because of his religion, on October 6, 1941, during a mass arrest of Catholic priests by the German Socialist Gestapo.
Shipped to Dachau extermination camp, he was issued number 28411. Because of his diabetes, he suffered thirst, for which the guards put a nozzle in his mouth and nearly drowned him with water.
On March 19, 1942, Father Narcyz perished from torture, starvation, exhaustion and exposure.
