6/13/2018 0 Comments June 13th, 2018During the Warsaw Uprising of the Polish Underground Resistance to liberate Warsaw from the occupation of the German Socialists, more than 200 nuns and priests were executed by the occupiers.
Father Józef Stanek, chaplain of the Polish Home Army, which led the resistance, was arrested by the German Socialists and taken to a warehouse on Solec Street. Escorted to an iron beam protruding from the wall, a noose -- made from Father Stanek's own stole -- was tightened around the neck of the priest, who made the Sign of the Cross, blessing his fellow prisoners, before the German Socialists hanged him, in odium fidei, on September 23, 1944.
