After Hitler and his German Socialist death troops invaded Poland, on September 1, 1939, they began implementing Intelligenzaktion, their operation to eliminate the Polish elite, which included priests.
During the strategic operation, in Włocławek, Gestapo arrested Father Józef Straszewski, on November 7, 1939, along with 9 professors and 22 seminarians.
Shipped to Dachau extermination camp, Father Straszewski accepted everything as the Will of God, even when he was transported to Hartheim Euthanasia Center, where he was gassed to death, on August 12, 1942, as part of Aktion T4, the liquidation of those the German Socialists deemed unworthy of life.
