Father Emil Szramek was arrested on April 8, 1940, months after the Socialist Germans invaded Poland, on September 1, 1939.
Shipped to Dachau extermination camp, he was transferred to Gusen camp, on May 25, 1940, where he slaved in the quarries, until he could no longer labor.
Transported back to Dachau, he was used as a human guinea pig in medical experimentation, where he was submerged in ice-cold water and, as a result, murdered, on January 13, 1942.
