This is something that I have been wanting to talk about. I have a class in history, but it is not really my major. I am still awfully interested in it because I am a historian. I hope that we can go and talk about it more from now on. This is one of the few articles that really made me want to learn more about it, and to be honest, it is quite scary. 1932-1933 was the Holodomor when Stalin deliberately starved the Ukrainian people in order to break them their resistance to his 5-year collectivization program. Millions of Ukrainians died.
Walter Duranty, the NYT foreign correspondent, won a Pulitzer Prize for his articles (i.e. propaganda piece which stated that there was no famine/genocide in Ukraine. To this day the NYT refuses to give back the prize.
