Days after the German Socialists invaded Poland, Gestapo arrested Father Jan Franciszek Wagner, in Bydgoszcz, on September 8, 1939, tortured him for weeks and then marched him out to the Forest of Gdansk, where he was shot to death in a mass execution, on November 1, 1939.
