9/29/2018 0 Comments September 29th, 2018After the German Socialists invaded Poland, on September 1, 1939, Father Edmund Roszczynialski founded Help the Poles, an underground organization that provided material help for Polish families, victims of war, orphans, widows of Polish soldiers and murdered by Germans.
Gestapo soon arrested Father Roszczynialski and forced him to dig his own grave in a schoolyard, in Cewice near Lębork, where he was executed, on November 11 or 12, 1939, even though he was a cousin of Lucia Maria Mollin Rommel, the wife of German Field Marshall General Major Erwin "Desert Fox" Rommel, who wrote a letter of recommendation to protect the priest from arrest.
